Grassroots Energy Innovation
The Grassroots Energy Innovations (GEI) lab is a research group at the Center for Energy & Society, Arizona State University (Tempe). Through our work, we strive to make visible the human dimensions of energy systems and energy transitions in communities at the intersection of ‘wicked’ challenges. The goal is to empower individuals and communities to imagine and create thriving and sustainable futures by producing actionable research on design and implementation of energy systems for sustainable development. At the core of the lab, is the idea that the success of energy systems can only be reflected or measured by the success of the people and communities it serves – by enabling choice and capabilities to pursue socio-economic well-being, harmonious co-existence with nature and strengthen democratic processes; without creating trade-offs, burdens or consequences that diminish these goals.
